Where the numbers come from
Every country in this game starts from real macroeconomic indicators. This page says which datasets those indicators come from, how old they are, and — just as importantly — what they do not claim. If you are going to learn from a simulation, you should be able to check it.
Datasets
GDP, population, GDP growth, inflation, unemployment
Government balance, inflation cross-checks, growth cross-checks
Trade balance, leading export and import categories
Foreign reserves
What this data does not claim
- The figures are rounded for playability. They are approximate values in the range each indicator actually occupied around 2022–2023, not a cell-by-cell transcription of one published release. Do not cite this page as a dataset — go to the sources above.
- They are a snapshot, not a live feed. Nothing here updates automatically, so the further you are from 2023, the more the starting position is history rather than news.
- Only the starting position is real.Everything after turn one is the simulation's own simplified rules, not a forecast. See the model page for those assumptions.
- Twelve countries are not the world economy. They were chosen to span different economic archetypes, so the set is deliberately varied rather than representative.
Starting values, as shipped
This table is generated from the same data file the game runs on, so it cannot drift out of sync with what you play. GDP in billions USD, population in millions, trade balance and reserves in billions USD, the rest in percent.

Found a number that looks wrong? That is a useful thing to report — say which country and which indicator.
